Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actress, is known for her roles in film and on television since the mid 1980s. Bassett has been awarded a variety of awards, like the Golden Globe Award as well as 16 NAACP Image Awards. Her name has been praised for her TV and film performances since the early 1980s. Her awards comprise the two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett born in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt following her birth at New York New York, is an acclaimed actor. Bassett along with her sister aged five, old, made the move out of New York and into St. Petersburg to live with their mother, who was the divorced father. Bassett was inspired to become an actor after watching the production Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Earl Jones. Following her graduation at Yale University New Haven Connecticut in 1980, with an undergraduate degree with a major in African American Studies, she was able to obtain an MA (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. She dated Courtney B. Vance, an actress who was also at Yale and they got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. degree in African-American studies in the year 1980.
